We have found an issue with CaseWare files that have external links to taxprep files (or any other external file).
If you are experiencing slow CaseWare load times, or slow sign off times, or slow scrolling of the document manager in a particular file it is most likely associated with this issue.
To correct this issue do the following:
1. In your caseware file right click on a folder and select: Expand all folders

2. Scroll through the document manager, looking at the Filename column. If you see a filename that starts with \\local.lan\ it needs to be changed to use the mapped drive instead.

3. Right click on the file in question and select properties

4. In the properties dialog highlight the following file path up to 1_clients in the File/URL input

5. Change it to K:

6. Click OK
7. Repeat this process for any other external document links in the CaseWare file.
Once all document links have been updated to use a mapped drive you will find that the CaseWare file will become responsive again and you will no longer have slow downs with scrolling, sign off, or opening/closing the file.
Please note that this is a file by file basis and you may or may not have this issue in a file depending on when the document links were dragged into the file. All external document links that have been created in files since the rollout of caseware 2014 will already use the mapped drive. This issue will exist mostly in files that have external links that were created prior to conversion to Citrix or that were created in the file between the period of Aug 2013 to Jan 2014.
